With spring well on its way and moving to a new apartment, the blog has taken a back seat. But it will be back in full swing with lots of DIYs and new recipes in our new townhouse (and pictures to come soon). In the meantime I’ve been staying busy with lots of fun warm weather activities in Atlanta. Last weekend marked the first rendition of the Beltline Boil. The event consisted of a dozen local restaurants located near the Beltline preparing their own recipe for a low country boil. Each restaurant set up a stand and served the hundreds of festival goers waiting in line. With live music playing, sun shining on our backs, and a nice breeze the day was picture perfect. We tasted the food from 5 of the vendors before the crowds beat us to it! After declaring Loca Luna our favorite tasting with a shrimp risotto cheese ball (mmm) surrounded by seafood jumbo, we got in line for a full plate of low country boil and street fries for lunch. Now that I’ve been a resident of Virginia Highlands for a year and a half, the beltline has become one of my favorite places to meet up with friends for walks, take a brisk walk by myself, or a nice shortcut to Piedmont Park. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the first festival on the beltline, we hope the tradition continues on!
No festival is complete with out a stop at King of Pops….a salted caramel popsicle for the walk back :)
