kite festival

This past weekend I attended a kite festival in Atlanta. If you know anything about Atlanta, windy has never been a word to describe the climate. I met a friend and my mom at Piedmont Park to see what this was all about. With a picnic lunch and a nice spot on a hill, we took in the scene. There were a few kites, many spectators, and a few adorable children testing out their Halloween costumes. With the hustle and bustle of daily endeavors, I forget how pleasant this city can be. Sitting on a hill watching people fly kites (or rather a running start to get the flag off the ground) and enjoying the beautiful October weather was just the thing to do on the weekend. While Atlanta suffers from traffic and humidity a lot of the year, days like these remind me how nice it is to be surrounded by a big city but feel connected to other people who like to get out and explore. And why not, go fly a kite!
